Very enjoyable round
Super friendly clubhouse staff set the tone for a good round. Course was well maintained, considering all the rain this year. Greens rolled true with moderate predictability. Was a little surprised by the length the course played. Bring your long clubs for the big par fives. GPS carts is always a plus. Planning to play again soon. Worth the drive from Savannah? - Yes!
Well maintained course
The course is in very good condition. The greens looked great and rolled smooth. Three of us played in under four hours. I did notice a group of eight playing on several holes. Having a good tiime! They started on the back so didn't interfere with our round. I did notice a single having to wait behind them. Not sure its this way all the time. Several challenging holes including a 200 yd. plus par 3.
Good Course
Like the design and the layout. Not too difficult - everything is right in front of you.
Greens were great - very consistent on every hole and held/checked when I hit them.
Would definitely play here again.
Disappointed Time after Time
A few friends and I were in this area for a few months and golfed at Coastal Pines multiple times. After the first experience at this place, the only reasons we came back were for a good deal on GolfNow and the convenience.
Where do I start? The first time we went, we just hit some range balls. We all concurred the place was "sketchy." Every one of their staff members with the possible exception of one was, to put it lightly, a jerk. It was almost like it was a burden for them to have new people play there. And God forbid you have a GolfNow reservation and not book through the clubhouse. Not only was this a major issue, but every time we played, there were random (shady) people driving golf carts around the course seemingly looking for something. EVERY TIME. Turns out it was probably for clubs and money (my friend left a club at one hole and never got it back, and I had $40 in cash taken from my wallet). They were not playing, nor were they staff members.
All they have in the clubhouse is a few snacks--no grill. As for the course, it's in pretty decent shape, and it's an okay course for the money, but I would highly recommend playing Sanctuary Cove, Heritage Oaks, or Sea Palms rather than giving a dime to the staff members here. Stay away.
Hidden gem
This course is a remote area off the beaten path. We were vacationing on St. Simon Island and wanted to play golf without robbing a bank. Found this course online and thoroughly
Enjoyed our round. About a 30 minute drive off the island but well worth it.
Wish they would fill the sand traps
Nice wide open course, good folks: an accepting course.
Course in great shape. Fun to play.
Course in great shape. Always fun to play. GPS on the carts works great. Cannot beat the value of this course.
best value in Brunswick area
We play here frequently along with five other courses in the area. The greens were perfect and the whole course well groomed and green. The full color GPS system in the carts are very helpful.
Course was in good shape.
Overall, a good experience, course was in good shape and was a value for the price on golfnow.com.
very challening playing course
will have my golf cluhis b the Savannah Senior Strickers 21 guys play this course very soon.
Greens were awesome & Layout very nice
Coastal Pines was a very good course, and the folks there were very helpful.
Having GPS was great for a player that was visiting.
Only critique was they let a sixsome out that really clogged up the front nine that caused folks to skip holes and loose their cool a bit.
Overall I had a great round, and even saw a young eagle take a fish from one of the ponds. How Cool!!!!
Great layout, great greens
If you played last winter/early spring and didn't like the greens, give it another try. They over seeded the greens this winter (2013) and they have been in excellent condition throughout the winter and spring. This course has a great layout too.
Thee course was very dry, traps needed to be fluffed up. it was a very windy day so our scores were higher than we would have liked
Nice layout, needs watering and priming in the traps.
The holes need to be cut better!!
Course layout is fun. Greens are ok. Golf now price is good. Full price to play this course too much. We did play 3 rounds there so not all bad
This course needs alot of work
This was the first time playing. I probably would not come back. The driving range is dismal. The tee area was dirt. Flags were stuck out at certain yardage. No sign showing the distance. It would be nice if they would at least dye the grass around the flag, like hitting to a green. The course was still dormant which was a shocker for this area. Since the Azalea's in this coastal region were waining. The course must not get fertilized properly or watered much. The other courses in the area, their grass is greening out nicely. The only big plus at this course is the big GPS screens on the carts. This course is not worth more than $25. The greens were in great shape, but very slow. There is NOT drinking water on the course. Bring your own. They have coolers on the cart & a cooler at the front door of the clubhouse to get ice. The proshop is a tiny room with hardly anything in it. I did not see a snack bar. The course had alot of players on it. This course has potential, but needs more attention. The clubhouse is missing out on some profit, not selling food & beverages, or at least beer.
Overpriced garbage, go to heritage
The staff alway treats me like they are doing me a favor by providing the course as apposed to being appreciative have my business. They are rude and very dismissive. The driving range stays in horrible condition, I find it very difficult to find comfortable footing it is always hacked up and uneven. Even worse the man who collects the balls always rides up and just sits next to me when Im trying to practice, it is very distracting. Its a very open course that provides very little shade, it can get very hot and they have no coolers or fountains throughout the course so bring pleanty of water if want to play. I use to play this course weekly only because they were the cheapest in the area and they provided GPS on the cart, They increased their prices and without the savings they use to provide this course is not worth the price when you can ride a few miles down the road and get much better service and a much better course for the same price. I bought a $300 rangefinder a few weeks ago just so I could play the other courses in the area. The all around value is very low especially for the price.
Brown grass
Like all courses this time of year, it is mainly brown grass except around the tee's and greens. the ball rolls forever, sometimes too far into the water.
worth a trip
nic.e, challenging layout with plenty of water and sand that comes into play. greens are overseeded and in very good condition. rest of course in winter, dormant condition. would like to play again during growing season.
The course has a wide-open feel and is well-maintained
It was pleasant playing with few people on a beautiful day.
Lots of roll for the balls and tricky, well-placed sand-traps.
