It was not worthy.
Tee box was like rough or bunker.
Fairway was like poor driving range.
Green was not bad.
Course layout was not special and bored.
Orchard Hill Golf Course; Well improved!
The course management must have realigned its priorities for this course. All aspects of the course have received the attention to detail that is required to make a good course considerably better. Cart paths have been upgraded. Most bunkers are pristine and well maintained. While I was there, I saw new carts being delivered. I noticed the installation of Golf Now software which will make it easier for me to book a tee time. This course has moved up on my play list. It will be interesting to see additional improvements.
Great Course!
Poor course conditions made me look elsewhere for a home course, but now that Orchard Hills has new owners and money being pumped into it, I decided to come back and check it out.
I found that the bunker sand was being refreshed, cart paths were being relaid, and spots where greens and fairways were patchy were covered with sand to regrow those areas. The bunker sand was super fluffy and fantastic! Many of the greens looked great compared to just 6 months ago, too.
I'm really looking forward to see how this course looks in spring and summer! It's a great course where most of the holes are not punishing and allows you to play fun, creative, relatively stress-free golf; which is how amateur golf (if not all golf) should be played, if you ask me. Too many golf courses focus on how to make the course challenging and forget that their customer is the average amateur golfer who is only going to get frustrated by their penal layouts. Orchard Hills is not one of those designs:)!!
YOU WOULD THINK IT EASY
How many times have we thought or said that as golfers. When we started the round I looked out there, no trees to speak of just wide open. Then there was the greens, my kitchen floor putts slower than Orchard Hills. Advantaged Orchard Hills, I'm sure there are some of you will slay this place, it wasn't me.
I WILL BE GOING BACK. I WENT BY A LOT OF GOLF COURSES TO GET TO THIS ONE.
Just Overall Fun
It's a great place for all skill levels. Greens are a bit shoddy on some holes and the cart paths are a bit rough but the course plays well. I'm going tomorrow @ 11:30 if the weather stays nice.
Great layout, OK conditions
Played on a HOT Labor Day and had the course to ourselves. Great variety of holes...long, short, uphill, downhill. Lots of forced carries, but nothing too hard to manage. We really liked the layout, but conditions were a bit sketchy. Cart paths are in serious need of attention; significant fairway crabgrass in spots; greens very consistent, but some of the golfers need to be taught how to use a divot tool. Fun course, about halfway between north Atlanta suburbs and Auburn University.
Well Maintained
Got out early and the course was in great shape! Fairways were nice! I scored my best score ever here.
A bygone era of golf to be re-discovered
Orchard Hills is a golf course to get excited about playing! It's a journey back in time when golf, like life, was a lot less confusing and fast paced. Orchard Hills has three 9-hole courses. I played the Orchard and Rock Garden courses. The layout of the two courses is outstanding. The tee boxes, fairways, bunkers, rough everything scream old school golf at each twist and turn. What I found so magical about Orchard Hills was the staff and the golfers alike. Some of the friendliest people I have ever met on a golf course and Southern hospitality all around. Mark Twain once said golf is a good walk spoiled but a day spent at Orchard Hills might change his mind. Do yourself a favor and visit this beautiful, historic place and enjoy a piece of bygone golf.
Great deal for the money
This course should get more credit. Not perfect conditions by no means but fun and challenging. Easy access from I-85.
Course review
Nice wide open fairways. Choice of 3 different 9 hole courses. Just enough water to add variety. Pathways need a little work.
Good to play here again.
This is the first time I've played this course in a couple of years. I played Orchard/Rock Garden. Greens were in very good shape as we're the chipping areas on most of the holes. Fairways were also in good shape although a few of them needed mowing. I can't wait to play here again.
Orchard Hills
Love this course however, the last 2 times I've played there, they are running tractors in the fairway while I'm on the tee box and on multiple holes, spraying the greens while I'm trying to approach. Extremely frustrating.
A great course
The course is in great shape. The rough has really grown back tall and thick and will eat your lunch if you dont hit the fairway. I love playing course. Shot my best round this year
Not worth it. Better courses in South ATL
The course layout is challenging, fairways and greens are in decent shape but the tee boxes are a joke (hard as rock and patchy). Cart paths are worse than 285 and the staff is rude. My group teed off at 5:30 for a twilight round was kicked off the course on the 16 hole (plenty of daylight left to finish the round) because all carts need to be returned to the club house by 8pm. I have never heard of his before in my 15 + years of playing golf. Staff was very rude and told us if we don't get off the course they would lock the parking lot gate with our truck still inside for the night. So much for a gentleman's game. I will take my business else ware.
Challenging and fun with beautiful views
This is a beautifully scenic course set in an old pecan orchards. It is one of my new favorite places to play.
Course review
Need marshal to prevent golf carts from getting off cart paths to prevent killing grass and having more dirt areas. Makes douse look bad and distress course.
Great variety course
Course in great condition staff extremely friendly great experience since they have 27 holes
Links Type Course
Hit out fairway, you might not find your ball. Lots of tall grass on some holes. Course has three nine holes.
Hey srtew, the "rough" as you put it, is crabgrass, not bermuda.
