New Owners Working to bring course back
Course was recently sold, new owners are working hard to get course in better condition. At the time of my visit, only the front 9 was open. The course has a solid layout, but does have a few head scratcher holes. The fourth hole is one that has an absurd blind pond in front of the green and the 6th is a little tight off the tee. Otherwise the remainder of the course is good, back 9 has less homes on it.
I would call ahead about conditions prior to ones round.
A bit disappointed
This used to be one of the hidden gems and I went to enjoy a round with my brother and son and quickly found out how bad the course had deteriorated. The staff was great but greens were made of crabgrass and putting was beyond poor. The fairways were comprised of little Bermuda grass and more weeds. Tee boxes were hard pan and sparse Bermuda grass. Understand this is not a premier course but more so a hackers course . I was saddened to see it in such conditions because I truly enjoyed playing it. The staff and price were great but the condition of the course was not.
Price good. Course conditions ehhh.
Staff was friendly, had a driving range and putting green. Course was poorly maintained. Greens had some burn spots, but could overlook. However greens had weeds growing all over them making the ball roll questionable at best. Sand traps were terrible condition.
Beautiful course
Wide open course with a great design. Clubhouse needs lots of work. You can tell they have money problems. However, the course is in decent shape for the money. I would go back and play this clourse in a heartbeat.
It’s a Golf Course
Got a smoking hot deal on GolfNow to play.
I played this course about 10 years ago and it was really nice back then.
When I walked up to the clubhouse it was rundown and inside had a real strange smell. It was musky smelling.
No frills to say the least.
The tee boxes and heeenw were in pretty bad shape. The fairways were in pretty good shape.
The course is challenging and I would play there again.
Good Course
Layout was great. Most fairways were good. Greens fair need work. Staff friendliness mixed, some were, some not.
Not a bad spot!!
Clubhouse was very generic and very plain not much to offer on the inside, cart girl left at 2 o’clock only saw her once which was a disappointment. Course was maintained fairly well. Not a difficult course, some water challenges but fairly easy. Staff was very nice!!!
Golf
For the value it was good course.
Greens are slow but decent. Fairways are super hard and fast but not in good shape. Rather spend about $20 more and go to nicer course
Nice course
The green are in good condition, but still slow. The fairways have weeds in around 80% or them.
Tee boxes need some work, some of them there is no grass.
Overall good experience and fun course, if you get a hot deal for less than 20 is worth, do not lay more than that.
Bad cart paths
Clubhouse appearance in terrible condition!
Desperately needs renovations.. Falling apart.
Nothing like the “Old Course!”
Wife and I played on a Hot Deal - the price was right even with the greens being recently aerated. Loved the layout but there were several glaring problems- tees were horrible, sparse turf grass and a lot of weeds. Cartpaths need a lot of work too. Fairways were also full of weeds but it’s the time of year when it is not wise to try to eliminate weeds when the turf grass is coming out of dormancy. Gas cart died on 18 and we had to be pushed to the clubhouse. We said all round that we were playing twice today, “the first and the last time!” We will give it another chance later in the Spring. One positive, staff (only saw three people!) was helpful and friendly.
Bumpy Greens
The greens were mostly bumpy and don't know if it was from all the rain that we had the previous week or not.. Fairway were OK as they let carts on them.
The course has wonderful features
A bit far from Atlanta Georgia but playing well worth the green fees
Where’s the WATER!!
The “new” Old Course in Douglas County, Georgia gets better each time we play it. Greens were still a little bumpy and hairy but playable. Love the layout especially the back nine. Fairways coming in nicely but way too many weeds. Really hard to play the ball “down” right now. On this hot humid day it was borderline criminal that there was not water ANYWHERE in the course! Dehydrated golfers are unhappy and a liability risk. We’ll be back!
Hi, my family & I bought the course and started repairs in 2021. We appreciate your comments & I just now created an account on here so not sure who disliked your comment but I wanted to let you know it wasn’t us. Not sure if you have been back but we’ve had a great response from the golfers about the improvements that we have & continue to do. Thank you
I guess my downvote falls in the truth hurts category?
I was being generous with my 3 star review too!
