Cherokee Run Golf Club near Atlanta: High standards return to once-comatose course
Cherokee Run Golf Club is making a comeback. The course, located about 30 miles east of Atlanta in Conyers, Ga., is one of the best designed by the team of Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay. It doesn't take long to get a feel for the Oconee course at Reynolds Plantation. Even from a mid-iron approach on the first hole, a 559-yard par 5 from the "One" tees, you can already hear the waterfall next to the green. It's a natural setting of which architect Rees Jones took full advantage. The scenery is first-rate, from the beginning to the end, Mike Bailey writes. There's not a ho-hum hole on the golf course.
