The Links at Southwind Country Club (previously known as SouthWind Golf Club) is a course that is as scenic as it is challenging. The layout tumbles down across the hillsides of Fairburn, across dramatic elevation changes and through towering, mature pines. Unique rock formations accent the golf course and water hazards come into play on several holes. There are an interesting variety of holes that offer something for every skill level. The challenges of the course come mostly from the constant up-and-down of the rugged terrain. The different slopes of each hole require both accuracy and a good strategy. There are also a number of bunkers to contend with, their placement strategically determined by the elevations changes. One of The Links at Southwind Country Club's most difficult holes is the par-5 10th, which has not one but two large water hazards running along the right side.

Will be back
It was my first time playing this course, love the layout and can't wait to see how the new management improves things.
Improvements are noticeable. Good value.
I"ve played this course a few times in the past and the course conditions are improving quickly under the new management. It's a relatively short course but challenging to play. The first hole is a short par 4 but protected by a quick sloping green that tends to move the ball left. Overall it was an enjoyable round and I look forward to the continued improvements in course conditions. It has the potential to be one of the best moderately priced facilities in South Atlanta.
Great potential
This course is under new management, hopefully next time I play I can change my 4 star to a 5 star. I love the wild life the boulders are very refreshing. Tough course specially when all the flags where the same color and you couldn't tell their position.
Southwind Golf
I thought the course was a challenging layout. I had read previous reviews, so I was a little skeptical. The course is beginning to shape up. The fairways are very hard (not difficult), so you must take that into consideration before pulling out driver. It was very narrow in some spots and open in others. Don't let the hardness of the fairways effect your shots into the green though. They were very receptive and held very well. They also rolled very well. It was hard to get my head around this after hitting 4 hybrid about 240 yards. I believe when they get the fairways to come in, and take some of the rollout away, this will be a gem of a course.
Great layout.
Under new Management this course has the potential to be one of the top courses to play in south Atlanta.
Southwind Golf Course Revisited
Our golfing group is composed of retired men. We are not excellent golfers, but shoot in the range of 90 to 100. We have visited Southwind for a round of golf a few times a year since 2010. But, new management has made a big difference to Southwind. The burned clubhouse is reopened like new. The greens are the best ever. The fairways have been fertilized and are green and mowed. Ice cold water was in place.
We enjoyed playing this course very much today. The course is not crowded and is an outstanding value for Atlanta, especially for north Atlanta players who pay $50 for a round of golf. Enjoy this one for half that. Our group will visit this one again soon.
Great Potential
Course was just bought . Will be in great shape in about 6 months. It is still playable now.
Another lemon in Fairburn
I understand the course is under new ownership/management, and I'm not sure what kind of conditions were inherited, so I will give the current ownership a pass this time. HOWEVER, I read an online review that was very misleading, hence the reason I opted to play on 6/29. I had read they were working on the course and improvements were being made. If what I saw were improvements, then I would hate to have seen it before the takeover. There is a bad infestation of crabgrass everywhere including in the fairways and also in the rough. There were also multiple fairways that had large bare spots with no turf to hit from, only red clay. Surprisingly, the tees were very shaggy, necessitating the need for a longer tee to get your ball high enough for a clean strike with a wood. Several of the tees were also uneven with low spots when standing between the tee markers. I had to move around several of the tees to find a flat hitting area, and at times even having to move ahead or way behind the markers to find a flat area. I think they were trying to get the grass on number three green to grow out, because about 75 percent of the green looked like a fringe area and the actual putting surface where the hole was cut was only about 200 square feet or so. To make matters worse, my cart would not come out of idle, so I had to call the pro shop to bring me another one out on number four. After skipping around multiple groups that would not let me play through, I finally found wide open spaces around number 12. Got several bad bounces due to the poor conditions that made me lose interest in a hurry. The greens were aerated, with no sand, but surprisingly rolled pretty good. When you get to within 10 to 15 yards of the green, the conditions improve somewhat with decent fringe areas around them. I may opt to return in a year or two to see how things have improved. Sorry guys, nothing personal. Just calling it like I see it.
Course needs a little TLC
I agree with other recent reviews that the course is in need of some maintenance. There is no difference between the fairways and rough. Weeds have taken over but, I can see that things are on the uprise. Greens were recently aerated and , with the exception of hole 3, they should be in decent shape soon. The course itself is short and values placement off the tee vs distance. I would be willing to play this course once again when the course has had a chance to improve.
Upward Trending
I played this course about 2 months ago and was very disappointed, primarily with the amount of weeds and bare places in the fairway. During my last visit 6/24, I could clearly see that the course is headed in the right direction under new management.
Course coming along well
They are making a lot of improvements to the course after taking over from the previous owner. Wasn't overly crowed at 830am so we finished a round in about 3hr 20 mins. Great value for the money
Under new management, with a lot of new investment
The course is under new management, and it's already clear the new team is putting a ton of investment into the course. When we played on a Sunday morning, we were the only people out there.
Narrow / Blind Course
This was the first time I played this course, you need to make sure you can hit them straight, the course can get narrow on some holes.
They need to work on the cart path, it may disappear and then re-appear. lol
On its way back
The new owners have made a lot of progress. The course is coming around. The clubhouse repairs are complete. Its obvious that the owners are putting $ into the course.
Great Value
This course will be very nice when fairway grass grow in. very challenging. will return for sure
WAIT!
WAIT! Greens and fairways are in terrible shape. Wait for several more years until you spend your time and money driving to this course.
Customer Service No#1
It is nice to play at a place were everyone welcomes you. The new owner 25 yr PGA Pofessional, General Manager a former World Amateur Champion. This facility has been thru some dark times, but these guys have already improved the place 500%. Greens are fabulous and the place has been fertilized wall to wall. The clubhouse is spacious and has been remodeled. This is the place to play on the south side. Do not go to Wolfcreek because you will be giving your money to people in California. Come and enjoy and support local ownership, great guys, great course.
Good for the Price
As long as they keep the price at $26 I will continue to make the drive and play here. It was really busy this time but that's to be expected on a Saturday with nice weather.
Very nice course
The course has beautiful scenery along with elevated tees which I like. The course is not crowded during the week. There are challenging holes with water hazards and bunkers.
Overall I like the course and will play again this coming week.
Up and Coming
awesome greens, fairways need some love but he's working on them
