The Links at Southwind Country Club (previously known as SouthWind Golf Club) is a course that is as scenic as it is challenging. The layout tumbles down across the hillsides of Fairburn, across dramatic elevation changes and through towering, mature pines. Unique rock formations accent the golf course and water hazards come into play on several holes. There are an interesting variety of holes that offer something for every skill level. The challenges of the course come mostly from the constant up-and-down of the rugged terrain. The different slopes of each hole require both accuracy and a good strategy. There are also a number of bunkers to contend with, their placement strategically determined by the elevations changes. One of The Links at Southwind Country Club's most difficult holes is the par-5 10th, which has not one but two large water hazards running along the right side.

Will test your skills
First time playing at Southwind but definitely will not be my last. The layout is challenging and the scenery is pleasing and serene. The fairways need some work but they are still playable. The greens were good and offered very few straight in, no break putts.
Met the new owner - seems like a nice a guy who is committed to making Southwind a top notch golf course. New course maintenance equipment has been ordered and the new clubhouse is almost finished. This is going to be a very nice spot to golf and socialize.
Great price for weedy bare fairways
I tried this hot deal but most of the reviews were from 2 or 3 years ago. Since I only paid $17, it wasn't too bad for the price. The front fairways were mostly weed filled and had many bare spots. He greens were ok. On the back 9, some of the fairways started looking better, and some of the greens were looking pretty good too. The layout and designs of the holes were very nice. If the fairways could be brought back to life with just grass, this would be a very nice course.
Will eventually be good
Previous owner left this in shambles. Fairways are like driveways with weeds and rocks, but elevation changes and greens provide a great challenge. If current ownership keeps its word, this place will be one of Atlanta's gems.
It's a shame. It looks abandoned
It is just bad. Appears to have been long abandamded. Not worth the $16 I paid to play
Good local Course -- On the rise...
My buddy and I played Southwind for the first time last Saturday (4/26/14). Our tee time was 10:40am. We had to wait in line behind 2 groups of 4 players before we could start -- not a big delay at first. Unfortunately, they held us up for the rest of the day. We finally finished our round at 4pm -- that's over 5 hours folks -- way to slow! The group behind us were our spectators for most of the day. I personally could have done without an audience. The place was crowded but it was a beautiful, warm, spring day and it was a Saturday so I kind of expected it to be a little crowded. I would like to go back on a week day when it's less crowded. The Course was okay. The tee boxes were okay; however, some had uneven areas -- but I was able to find a good flat spot on most tees.. The bunkers were excellent and had really good sand -- better than any others I've played in South Fulton County. The greens were good and some were very challenging. Watch out for the green on hole #1, it has steep angle, starting at the hole and going down hill and to the left -- it got me good (I had a 4 putt to start the game). The fairways need more grass. We had to hit off tight lies many times. However, with all that said, this course was in really good condition. The fairways and golf cart paths are surrounded by towering, majestic hardwood trees and assorted green hued vegetation -- a very beautiful course. Also, I met the owner(s) and they were super nice guys. They are really doing everything they can to get this course into top shape. I will definitely be back to play this course again. You should come out and give it a try yourself -- you wont be disappointed.
New management. Major upgrades being done.
This course has great potential. The layout of the course with all the elevation changes makes for a challenging and fun day of golf. There are 4 different tee boxes to suit your ability.
The previous owners had let the course become run down. The new owners are going full out, no expense spared, to upgrade the course beyond what it ever was previously.
The putting greens are now all top notch and better than most. The cart paths are excellent. All golf carts are new.. The new irrigation system is quickly bringing the fairways back into condition after being neglected..
My prediction is that this course will quickly become one of the best south of ATL.
At this time the clubhouse is nearing completion after burning down. For this reason I gave a FAIR for Quality of Food and Beverage.
Not yet in season but pocket friendly
The course is a great test of your game but it needs to grow back from the winter season to fully enjoyable as the fairways were thin. The greens however were in peak season form! If you are looking for a very affordable round or to work on your game this is a good choice. In May it should be a great choice.
Great course
Had a great round, the weather was beautiful but I am glad I had a cart. Lots of hills. Got to meet the owner, nice folks and a great price. I'll be back.
the course could be great, but not keep up
the fairway was not cut, the course was in very bad conductions, not club house, could not by food
New course
New course fairways need a little help, don't need driver on every hole. The layout makes u think before hitting a club.
Beautiful course
The new owner had done an excellent job getting the course ready in just 8 weeks. This is going to be a beautiful course once the grass greens up for the year and they continue their improvements. Will definitely keep my business with them.
A diamond in the rounh
When I played this course for the first time (back in the fall of 2013)I knew it was something special. I like the challengeing lay out and the views from the elevated tee boxes are great. David, the manager/owner,makes you feel right at home. He is working very hard with repairs and upgrades on the course. Can't wait to play it when the grass kicks in.
Played it with my 2 adult sons and my grandson. It was 50 degrees and the wind was blowing 30 mph. I had a blast!! Thanks David
Terrible Conditions
I know this course is going through an owner change, but avoid it until they start making some improvements. The fairways were hard as a rock, and had very little grass to speak of. In many cases, there was exposed mud on the fairways, and you had to move your ball 10+ feet just to hit off of something that resembled grass. The greens were just as hard as the fairways, and were extremely slick. There were no water coolers on the course.
The new owner was very nice and acknowledged that the course needed some work...it needs a lot of work.
Needs some TLC
The course was in very rough shape. The fairways looked like they hadn't been maintained in a year.
hopeful for new owners' TLC
Took a chance for a bargain price on a tough, beautiful layout that has gone neglected and without basic turf maintenance for a while. There's a reason it was only $16, but new owners had only been there 6 weeks, and seem committed to bringing it back. Great track, though and scenic layout with amazing rockwork.
Need some work but will be back
This course is fairly challenging and has new management this course has the potential to be one of the best on the southside if properly treated. With that said, the fairways were a bit rough in areas and the traps needed more sand but the greens were fairly good and rolled pure. I will be back this summer to see if there are any improvements management said they are working hard on improving the course.
Best value in Atlanta...great elevation changes
I really love the changes in elevation throughout the course; great challenge and aesthetics.
